Kusama’s strange, obsessively patterned Alice illustrations have now been published in English, Japanese, Italian, and Chinese. This softcover Chinese translation was issued in an open-ended box, which reproduces her famous polka dot motif. Kusama is probably Japan’s most famous living artist. She has long been obsessed with Alice, declaring, “I, Kusama, am the modern Alice in Wonderland.”
