The talented Zelda Fitzgerald, often overshadowed by her husband the novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald, was encouraged by her psychiatrists to begin painting after an emotional breakdown in 1930. Her six watercolors illustrating chapters in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are among her best work. They were done in the 1940s, a period when Zelda was in and out of mental institutions.
