Black Market Baby
Formed in 1980 by Boyd Farrell and Paul Cleary of Snitch, Keith Campbell of D.Ceats, and Tommy Carr of the Penetrators, Black Market Baby was one of the longest-lasting bands to come out of the early years of punk in D.C. Their line-up changed numerous times over nearly two decades of performance but, particularly at their peak in the early-to-mid 1980s, few other D.C. bands were as effective at blending punk’s menacing mien with humor and memorable songwriting.
Drawn from the Paul Bushmiller collection on punk, the Sharon Cheslow Punk Flyers collection, the D.C. Punk and Indie Fanzine collection, and the Robbie White collection on the Slickee Boys at Special Collections in Performing Arts at the University of Maryland.
